The root chakra grounds us like a tree. It honors the Earth we live on. It pertains to our most basic instincts of survival.

It’s symbol is a red four petaled lotus with a square representing Earth in the middle of it.

Muladhara, or Root Chakra, is located at the base of our spine. It connects us to the energy of the Earth and, if this important first chakra is blocked, it limits the energy flow that needs to rise up to the other chakras in our bodies, blocking them as well.  We absorb all energy through this first very important vortex.

If this chakra is blocked we can experience the following:

*Lower back aches and pain in our legs

*Circulation and digestive problems

*Lack of energy

*Being afraid and having trust issues

*Worrying and not being able to relax

*Low self-image coupled with depression

*Underweight or overweight

*Constipation

*Anemia

 To name but a few!

But ideally, if in balance, this chakra could bring us:

*Balance and the feeling of being grounded

*Centeredness and strength

*Enhanced libido

*Connection to others and Nature

*Feelings of security

*End of fearing the future

*Healthy digestive system

*Prosperity

Sounds good right? It is essential for us to first work on this chakra before concentrating on any of the others. We must clear this one first. How do we do that you ask? Don’t worry there are many ways to clear and open all the chakras. Using diet, yoga, crystals, meditations, affirmations, etc. and I am here to help you learn all the various ways for each one of the chakras.

I’ll be back with part two of the root chakra very soon!

Bye for now, much love and light, Jill
